Overview
Times of economic uncertainty, civil unrest, and disaster are linked to a myriad of risk factors for increased violence against women and children (VAW/C). The United Nations Security Council (UNHC) acknowledges that women have a key role in promoting international stability by passing Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security, and calling on all parties to ensure women’s participation in peace processes.
In order to employ more women professionals in conflict related interventions, women need to be trained on early-warning signs, conflict prevention and resolution, and peace-building programs, as their active roles in conflict prevention, conflict resolution, reconciliation and post-conflict reconstruction processes is of paramount importance for the development of the society.
